Liberty University Fined Record $14 Million for Clery Act Violations

The U.S. Department of Education (Department) recently announced its office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) is imposing a $14 million fine as a result of a settlement agreement with Liberty University for material and ongoing violations of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, including with respect to its published crime statistics and treatment of sexual assault survivors.



Buffalo Public School District Modernizes Security With New Cameras NVRs

i-PRO Co., Ltd. (formerly Panasonic Security), a provider of professional security solutions for surveillance and public safety, recently announced that the Buffalo Public School District (BPSD) has modernized its security footprint with i-PRO multi-sensor and 360° fisheye network cameras, and i-PRO NV300 network video recorders (NVR). The BPSD serves 28,000 K-12 students out of 70 facilities in western New York.

Lessons Learned from Past School Shootings

Two experts are working together and collaborating on new ways school campuses can develop a proactive and comprehensive security plan. For three consecutive years, the U.S has had a record-high number of school shootings resulting in a repetitive cycle of grievances, anger, and frustration. The U.S. had 344 school shootings in 2023 which surpassed the record-breaking number of 308 school shootings in 2022 as reported by K-12 School Shooting Database.

The Justice Department announced today the release of a report on its critical incident review of the law enforcement response to the tragic school shooting at Robb Elementary School. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland announced the review shortly after the tragedy on May 24, 2022, in which 19 children and two teachers died at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Dan Marburger, Perry High School principal who was critically injured during a shooting on Jan. 4 has passed away. That’s according to The Associated Press.

Classes Canceled After Iowa Gunman Attacks Campus

Classes have been canceled at Perry High School, Iowa, as well as students dismissed from other K-12 facilities after an armed attacker opened fire inside a rural Iowa high school on the first day back from winter break Thursday morning. At least one student is reportedly dead from the shooting.
