Vernon College has integrated an artificial intelligence weapon detection system into its existing security camera network across its North Texas campuses.
The community college, which serves roughly 2,300 students across campuses in Vernon and Wichita Falls, partnered with Houston-based security provider Teksys Inc. to deploy software developed by ZeroEyes.
The platform monitors existing digital security feeds to identify visible firearms. When a potential weapon is detected, images are transmitted to an operations center staffed around the clock by military and law enforcement veterans. If the threat is confirmed, detailed intelligence — including the weapon's location and description — is dispatched to local law enforcement and school officials.
The software installation complements Vernon College’s existing safety measures, which include an emergency mass notification system, specialized protective gear for campus officers and direct radio links with local police agencies.
