Marquette University Launches Campus Safety Week
Weeklong programming covers self-defense, cybersecurity, active-threat response and fire safety for the campus community.

Students, faculty and staff at Marquette University can participate in a series of programs addressing personal safety, emergency preparedness, cybersecurity and fire response during the university’s Campus Safety Week.
The Marquette University Police Department and Office of Student Development organized the initiative, which combines instruction with opportunities for campus community members to interact with public safety personnel.
Programming includes self-defense demonstrations and a self-defense class led by university police. A separate personal safety awareness session will provide additional guidance on recognizing risks and responding to potentially unsafe situations.
The schedule also includes cybersecurity and wellness instruction, reflecting the role of digital security in broader campus preparedness efforts.
University police will conduct active shooter training focused on a college campus environment. The session will address preparation and response during an active threat.
Other activities include police ride-alongs and an informal meeting with officers. The week will conclude with fire extinguisher training conducted by the Milwaukee Fire Department.
