Shooting at Pennsylvania High School Kills One, Injures Four

A shooting outside a Philadelphia high school left one 14-year-old student dead and four others injured on the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 27, according to national news.

ABC News reports that the five victims, all high-school football players, were leaving the field at Roxborough High School after a scrimmage. Someone driving a green Ford Explorer approached the players and began shooting, said police. The victims were taken to Temple University Hospital and Einstein Medical Center, according to authorities.

The 14-year-old who died was shot in the chest; a 17-year-old male victim was shot in the arm and leg; a 14-year-old male victim was shot in the thigh; and a 15-year-old was shot in the leg, according to investigators. Police have not yet released information on the fifth victim.

All of the players shot were from Roxborough High School, said Deputy Philly Police Commissioner John Stanford, and shooters left the scene on foot. Stanford also said police will pull the footage from security cameras stationed in the area where the shooting occurred. There are currently no arrests or identified suspects.

“We are aware of a shooting that occurred at a football scrimmage this afternoon in Roxborough,” read a statement from the high school, posted online on Tuesday. “Four students have been taken to local hospitals, and families of the four shooting victims are being contacted. Multiple Philadelphia officers are at the scene, as well as members from our Office of School Safety.”
