Genetec Inc. has announced updates to its Security Center SaaS platform, introducing new access control capabilities designed to simplify daily operations and provide greater flexibility for organizations modernizing their security infrastructure.
The enhancements include a unified front desk experience, expanded intrusion panel support, and optional biometric authentication. These updates allow security teams to transition to cloud-managed systems without requiring immediate, large-scale hardware replacements.
“Security teams shouldn’t be constrained by legacy infrastructure or forced into all-or-nothing cloud decisions,” said Francis Lachance, senior director of product at Genetec. “We’re delivering enterprise-grade access control through the cloud in a way that lets organizations scale, adapt, and modernize without disrupting existing systems.”
A central component of the update is a new visitor management workflow. By bringing visitor check-in and cardholder access into a single cloud-based interface, the platform allows front desk personnel to process guests while security teams maintain central oversight.
The system supports policy-driven controls, enabling campuses and corporate offices to verify visitors against external databases and registries during check-in. If a match or exception is detected, the system can trigger automated alerts to security staff. This approach is designed for environments like schools and healthcare facilities that require consistent visitor screening without increasing the technical complexity for reception staff.
Genetec is also expanding its hardware ecosystem to support existing infrastructure. Through open architecture and Cloudlink appliances, the platform now offers broader intrusion support for Honeywell Galaxy panels, with DMP support expected by June.
Additionally, a new integration with SAFR SCAN provides high-assurance facial authentication. This biometric option offers a faster, secure alternative to physical credentials, such as badges or cards, which can be lost or shared.
The new front desk experience is available immediately to all Security Center SaaS users. Genetec will showcase the updated platform at ISC West in Las Vegas.
