Athens Technical College has completed the deployment of wearable safety technology across its three campuses to accelerate emergency response times for 4,500 students, faculty and staff.
The system equips employees with wearable badges capable of transmitting immediate alerts and precise indoor and outdoor location tracking to campus safety personnel. The infrastructure is designed to function across various facilities, including academic buildings, technical labs and simulation centers where traditional landline communication may not be accessible.
When triggered, the platform identifies the exact location of an incident and notifies designated responders. For minor incidents, such as medical issues or behavioral disruptions, notifications route directly to on-campus support teams. During critical emergencies, the system can initiate multi-sensory facility alerts, including visual strobes and audio announcements.
The initiative covers an 11-county service area, integrating all primary campuses, career academies and adult learning centers within the technical college system.
