Eight school districts and schools in Madison County, Indiana, received more than $475,000 through the state’s Secured School Safety Grant Program, according to a press release.
The funds can go toward measures such as school resource officers, site vulnerability assessments, equipment and technology purchases and bullying prevention, State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion) stated in the release.
Statewide, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security awarded more than $26 million to nearly 500 schools and school corporations in this funding round.
Established in 2013, the program provides matching grants to school corporations, accredited nonpublic schools and charter schools. The state of Indiana has invested more than $240 million since its inception.
