The Association of University Chief Security Officers, the National Association for Healthcare Security and Nu-ology Training established the collaboration to unify security preparedness across both sectors. The initiative will provide members access to the SFJ Awards Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness.
Developed alongside the National Counter-Terrorism Security Office, the qualification aligns with the mandates of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, commonly known as Martyn’s Law. Because universities and healthcare sites feature open, publicly accessible environments that frequently operate on adjacent estates, officials said the joint venture will strengthen national capability and standardize professional responses.
The Level 3 qualification focuses on recognizing terrorist attack methodologies, assessing threat likelihood and identifying mitigation strategies. According to SFJ Awards, it is the only qualification endorsed by Counter Terrorism Policing and the National Counter-Terrorism Security Office.
Nu-ology Training will deliver the regional classroom sessions, which are limited to 15 delegates per course. Organizers plan to announce specific regional delivery dates and locations in the near future. While the qualification does not automatically guarantee legal compliance with the new act, organizers noted it establishes a nationally recognized pathway for institutional preparedness.
