Two Teens Injured During Philadelphia High School Football Game

Two teens in Philadelphia are the latest victims in a string of shootings that have taken place at or near high school football games across the country.

Two teenagers were shot Friday during a high school football game in Philadelphia.

The shooting, which occurred outside of Philadelphia's Simon Gratz High School’s stadium, stopped the game in the second quarter as players and fans alike were told to evacuate.

On Saturday, the school issued the following statement:

"The shooting last night in North Philadelphia during the Mastery Charter Gratz High School football game happened outside of the stadium. It was not related to the game and no Mastery students were involved."

WPVI reported one of the teenagers was shot in the thigh and the other shot in the foot. Both are in stable condition, the news station reported.

The Philadelphia police said they do not have a suspect nor have they recovered the gun.

"People at the stadium, both the security [and] the police officers and those that were present, are all trying to be helpful, but I think it was just such mayhem when the shooting rang out that nobody saw anyone with a gun," said acting Philadelphia Police Commissioner Christine Coulter to WPVI.

The shooting is one of many that has happened around the country at a high school football stadium since the season started last month.

On. Sept. 13, a 14 year old along with two 19 year olds were found shot after a high school football game in Newport News, Virginia. A week earlier, a man was killed by a gunshot after getting into an altercation at a high school stadium near Pittsburgh.

In August, a teenager was arrested after 10 teenagers were injured after he opened fire at a high school stadium in Alabama.
