St Cecilia School Deploys ZeroEyes AI Gun Detection

The Cincinnati school integrates proactive software with existing security cameras to identify brandished firearms and alert law enforcement.

St. Cecilia School in Cincinnati has deployed AI-based gun detection software on its security cameras to enhance protection for students and staff.

The Catholic K-8 school in Hamilton County, which serves about 250 students from pre-K through 8th grade and employs 28 faculty and staff, integrated the ZeroEyes platform into its existing camera system.

The technology scans for firearms and sends images to a 24/7 operations center. Verified threats trigger alerts to school officials and law enforcement with details including suspect description, weapon type and location, often within seconds.

“The safety of our students is always at the forefront of what we do,” said David Lewis, a teacher and student resource officer at the school. “This technology gives me real-time intelligence to respond quickly. It’s a powerful supplement to our existing security measures.”

School officials said the move supports ongoing efforts to maintain a safe learning environment.
