Authorities: Texas Teenagers Planned School Shooting

Local news reports that several teenagers arrested in Donna, Texas, have admitted to planning a school shooting. Nathaniel Seth Montelongo and Barbarito Pantoja, both 17, were arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by the Donna Police Department. Police received an anonymous tip that led authorities to Montelongo, according to local news.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by local media, Montelongo confirmed the planned shooting to police and provided them with a “detailed explanation of his role.” The shooting was scheduled for Friday, June 3, the last day of classes at Donna High School. Montelengo said that he, Pantoja, and another student had made plans to enter the school and shoot multiple individuals.

Donna Independent School District police detained Pantoja, who confirmed the statement. He also said that a fourth student was involved in the plans. Police searched Pantoja’s home and found documents “pertaining to the planning and execution” of a shooting. Police detained the two students and also recovered a rifle and body armor at the location where one of the students was being detained.

The two students were issued bonds that totaled $750,000.
