Shooting at Oklahoma City College Kills One

One person is dead and the suspect is in custody after a shooting on Monday at Rose State College in Midwest City, Okla., according to national news. The campus was briefly put on lockdown, and according to Midwest City Police Chief Sid Porter, the incident did not present any threat to students, faculty, or the public, local news reports.
Porter said that the suspect and the victim, both men, were “acquainted through a domestic situation” but didn’t elaborate. Police on campus responded to reports of a shooting near the administrative building and confronted the suspect, who was armed. According to Porter, police ordered him to drop the weapon, which he did, and the suspect was detained without incident.
“[It] appears when the subject came out, that the suspect confronted the victim and was shot one time, and he is deceased,” said Porter.
Teams from Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that there are no other active threats on the campus, according to local news. Classes at the college were cancelled for the remainder of the day. The two-year community college enrolls about 13,000 students, according to national news.
