13-Year-Old Student Arrested for Planning to Shoot Popular Kids and Teachers at School

A 13-year-old male was arrested Saturday after law enforcement learned he was planning to “shoot up the school with guns.”

The male, who is not being identified due to his age, is a student at R.A. Jones Middle School in Kentucky.

Officials said his plan was to shoot the “popular kids and teachers.” That plan was only delayed because the teenager was waiting to obtain a bulletproof vest he told authorities.

In a press release, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office said the student did reveal his motivation behind the threat was due to the fact that he was upset about being suspended after being involved in a fight at school.

"The student did not have immediate access to weapons or body armor," said Lieutenant Philip Ridgell.

Per a judge’s order, the student is being held at the Campbell County Juvenile Detention Center on a felony terroristic threatening charge, reported the Cincinnati Enquirer.
