Kansas Senate Passes Firearms Safety Education Bill

The Kansas Senate recently passed a bill that would promote firearm education and safety training among K-12 students in the state. The bill would require the Kansas State Board of Education to develop a curriculum for a gun safety education program. Individual districts and school boards would have the choice to adopt the program in local schools.

Student Killed After Shooting at Police at Tenn. High School

On Monday, April 12, a student was killed after authorities say he opened fire on police inside Austin-East Magnet High School in Knoxville, Tenn.



Student Stabbed in Louisiana Dorm Room

On the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University, located in Hammond, La., an SLU student was arrested after police say she stabbed the person she was dating. Elizabeth Grace Johnson, 18, faces charges of aggravated battery after an April 3 incident with Louisiana State University student Draven Upchurch that placed him in the hospital with eight stab wounds.

Singlewire Software, Zoom Team Up to Manage Crisis Events

Singlewire Software has teamed up with Zoom Video Communications, Inc. to provide integration between Zoom Phone and InformaCast mass notification software. Zoom Phone customers will now be able to trigger and receive mass notifications using InformaCast to stay informed about crisis events that may impact their well-being.

Emerson College Responds to Spike in COVID Cases

Emerson College, located in Boston, Mass., has imposed several temporary restrictions in response to a spike in positive COVID-19 cases on campus. The changes took effect at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, and will last for at least a week, according to a community-wide email from Emerson’s assistant vice president for campus life, Erik Muurisepp.

Police Report 37 Arrests in One Weekend on High-School Campus

Police in Draper, Utah, reported making 37 arrests this past weekend on the campus of Corner Canyon High School. They said most of the arrests were for trespassing, and that they included students from other nearby high schools.
