Indiana Schools Receive Safety Grants
More than $186,000 will support security personnel, vulnerability assessments and safety technology at four school systems.

Four Indiana school systems will receive more than $186,000 for security improvements through the state’s Secured School Safety Grant Program.
The grants may be used to hire school resource officers, conduct vulnerability assessments, purchase security equipment and technology or implement bullying prevention programs.
Tipton Community School Corp. received the largest local award at $86,000. Carroll Consolidated School Corp. received $36,980, Delphi Community School Corp. received $34,400 and Tri-Central Community Schools received $28,666.
The four recipients serve communities in Carroll and Tipton counties. Funding is provided through matching grants available to school corporations, accredited nonpublic schools and charter schools.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security awarded more than $26 million to nearly 500 schools and school corporations in the latest funding round.
Indiana established the grant program in 2013 to support safety improvements at public, private and charter schools. The state has invested more than $240 million through the program since its creation.
