Connecticut School Adds AI Threat Detection
AI security system integrates facial recognition and weapons detection with the school’s existing surveillance cameras.

An unidentified Connecticut K-12 school has installed an artificial intelligence-based security platform designed to detect potential weapons and support incident response.
The deployment marks SafeSpace Global’s first installation at a K-12 campus. The company did not disclose the school’s name or location, citing the privacy and security of students and staff.
The platform connects with existing surveillance cameras and analyzes configured video feeds for people, objects and potential threats. When the system identifies a possible threat, it generates an alert with available location information.
A trained reviewer examines each alert before it is escalated, and if the reviewer confirms a threat, the platform can initiate procedures established by the school.
Those procedures may include notifying designated employees, contacting law enforcement, initiating a lockdown and providing location information to first responders. The specific response depends on the school’s systems and security protocols.
