New Jersey District Deploys AI Gun Detection Technology

Sayreville Borough School District integrates proactive AI software with existing security cameras to identify weapons and alert law enforcement.

Sayreville Borough School District has implemented an artificial intelligence gun detection and situational awareness platform across its campuses.

The software, developed by ZeroEyes, layers onto the Middlesex County district's existing digital security cameras to identify exposed firearms. The district encompasses 10 buildings, serving roughly 6,500 students and 750 staff members.

When the software detects a weapon, images are transmitted to an operations center staffed 24/7 by military and law enforcement veterans. If the team verifies a threat, alerts and intelligence—including visual descriptions and the suspect's last known location—are dispatched to school security and local law enforcement within three to five seconds.

The security upgrade connects with incident management software from Singlewire Software. The integration allows the weapons detection alerts to automatically trigger emergency broadcasting systems, distributing customized alerts across campus devices to speed up emergency responses.
