Dallas Baptist University Evacuates Campus After Receiving Bomb Threat

The university cleared its campus after receiving a bomb and coordinated armed threat Tuesday.

Dallas Baptist University evacuated its campus and canceled classes Tuesday after a “bomb and coordinated armed threat” was called in to campus police.

The threat was received about 1 p.m. reported The Dallas Morning News.

Shortly after the threat was received, the campus tweeted for everyone to evacuate and if they could not, to move to the Burg Center immediately.

That decision was made out of “an abundance of caution,” John Shaw, the university's chief of police told DMN.

Debbie Krasna, whose daughter attends DBU, told WFAA she went to the university to pick up her daughter after she was made aware of the threat. She said upon arrival, police had put up roadblocks and all appeared to be under control.

Dallas police’s SWAT team and the FBI were notified of the threat. No bomb was discovered during the threat, university spokesman Blake Killingsworth said.

The campus was cleared just after 5 p.m. and there were no injuries.
