Two California High School Students Arrested in Shooting Plot

Federal and local authorities intercepted online threats, arresting two 15-year-old girls accused of planning an attack at Corona High School.

Two 15-year-old high school students in Southern California are in custody on charges of conspiracy to commit murder after law enforcement uncovered a months-long plot to target a local high school campus.

The investigation began Oct. 6 after the Federal Bureau of Investigation alerted the Corona Police Department to online social media communications detailing a potential threat to Corona High School. A joint operation led to the immediate arrest of a 15-year-old female student attending Corona High.

Subsequent searches of electronic devices and multiple residences across Riverside County led detectives to a second suspect, a 15-year-old female student from nearby Norco High School.

According to police evidence, the two teenagers spent several months researching past school shootings and discussing strategies to execute an attack at Corona High School on an unspecified date. Communications showed the suspects actively discussed methods to acquire weapons, though investigators confirmed they had not successfully obtained any. No weapons were found during execution of the search warrants.

As reported by KTLA, police have not released the identities of either suspect because both are minors, nor have authorities disclosed potential motives or specific targets within the school of more than 2,000 students.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case. The investigation remains ongoing as a joint effort between the FBI, the Corona Police Department, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and the Corona-Norco Unified School District.
