Software Platform Integrates School Security Systems Into Single Screen

A new 3D mapping technology helps school districts connect existing surveillance, access controls and emergency alerts on one interface.

A technology platform designed to streamline campus emergency responses is linking disjointed security equipment into a single visual network for school administrators.

Developed by South Western Communications, the neXus platform aggregates access control devices, video surveillance, weapon detectors, vape sensors, intercoms and duress alarms onto an interactive 3D map. The unified interface allows staff to view real-time alerts across a campus and automate responses, such as initiating lockdowns or contacting emergency services.

By utilizing application programming interfaces and cloud technology, the system connects with hardware schools already own without requiring districts to replace existing infrastructure. The platform also assists districts in meeting statutory safety requirements, including Alyssa's Law, which mandates silent panic alarms linked directly to law enforcement.

The system is currently distributed across regional education networks and nationwide channel partners, targeting campus operations, emergency communications and district security managers.
