Choices in Learning Elementary Charter School is evaluating a wearable panic button and automated video system to streamline incident response for on-site staff and first responders.
The pilot program combines wearable badge devices with automated video integration. The system enables staff members to request immediate assistance from anywhere on campus without relying on cell phones or landlines.
Upon activation, the system automatically surfaces live video feeds from cameras nearest to the user's location. The visual context allows administrators, medical personnel and law enforcement to assess situations immediately rather than manually searching for camera feeds.
School administrators recently conducted a demonstration event alongside local public safety officials to showcase how the technology functions during everyday campus operations and emergencies. School leadership noted that teachers often lack quick access to phones during classroom incidents, making wearable communication tools a practical alternative.
While panic button systems are frequently associated with active threat scenarios, operational data indicates that 99% of wearable alert activations nationwide involve everyday incidents, including medical emergencies and student behavioral issues.
Local law enforcement officials participating in the pilot reported that direct-access alert tools complement existing campus safety protocols and mass communication systems by speeding up the delivery of critical location data to responders.
