Surveillance camera in classroom

ClassSecure for Today's Schools

i-PRO’s ClassSecure system bridges the gap between Alyssa’s Law compliance and educator privacy with cameras that only activate during an emergency.

When talking with teachers about safety, a theme that comes up repeatedly is that they do not want to be security experts. They just want to know that when something goes wrong, whether it is a disruptive student or something more serious, help will arrive quickly. That was the starting point for the ClassSecureä safety system.

The Problem We Saw

As Alyssa’s Law gained traction across the United States, the intent was clear: provide silent panic alarms in schools so first responders can act faster. But when we looked at the solutions on the market, two problems jumped out. First, most systems were fragmented.

Teachers might have a panic app, administrators a separate video platform, and responders yet another communication tool. In a crisis, switching between those systems can waste precious minutes. Second, some options leaned too far toward surveillance, with cameras recording classrooms around the clock. Parents did not want that, and neither did educators.

So, we set out to design a system that solves both challenges: one that brings police and school staff the intelligence they need the instant an emergency is triggered, while respecting privacy every other moment of the day.

The Design Principle: Privacy First

The ClassSecure system’s classroom camera is unlike anything else on the market. By default, it stays in Privacy Mode: lens concealed, streaming a black screen. It only activates when a panic button is pressed.

At that moment, the camera rotates into position and delivers live video and audio of the classroom to first responders. Because the feed is “always live” behind that shutter, there is no boot-up delay, no network handshakes, and no ‘hoping it works’ when it needs to.

That ‘safety without surveillance’ design is what makes ClassSecure something schools can adopt with the confidence of teachers, parents, and administrators alike.

Teacher Empowerment, Not Just Compliance

In districts where it has been deployed, teachers use it not just for major emergencies, but also for disturbances that require backup. Not every alert should trigger a full police response.

ClassSecure allows short versus long button presses, so a teacher can discreetly call for an SRO or administrator without summoning law enforcement unnecessarily. It is simple, but it gives staff the flexibility they need to match the situation.

Closing the Workflow Gap with NovoTrax

The other key piece of this puzzle is integration. i-PRO’s partnership with NovoTrax was born out of a shared frustration: the gap between mass notification systems and video protection. The NovoTrax EduTrax platform already unified alerts, lockdowns, and communications. We built the ClassSecure system natively on that backbone, so the moment a panic button is pressed, video, audio, door locks, and notifications all react in sync.

Responders do not need to juggle logins or chase camera feeds. They get a unified incident view, right down to a map of which classroom sent the alert.

Funding Reality: Beyond Technology

Of course, even the best system goes nowhere without funding. Alyssa’s Law has changed the grant landscape by creating new line items specifically for panic alert systems.

Texas, for example, allocated $2.3 billion to school safety initiatives, and solutions like ClassSecure qualify.

For administrators, this means ClassSecure is not just a safety decision; it is a financially viable one. Funders increasingly prefer comprehensive, integrated systems over a patchwork of point solutions. That positions ClassSecure as a strong candidate for grants that prioritize measurable improvements.

A True End-to-End Solution

For i-PRO, ClassSecure marks a departure from being a hardware provider to delivering true end-to-end safety solutions tailored to specific verticals like education. The system ties into our broader portfolio, including VideoInsight VMS, MonitorCast access control and body-worn cameras. It underscores our commitment to open, collaborative platforms.

NovoTrax integration is just the beginning, as we are already working on visitor management features and deeper radio interoperability to keep pushing the envelope.

Where it Goes from Here

School safety will always be evolving, shaped by regulation, technology, and community expectations. Looking forward, we see edge AI, cloud coordination, and responsible AI standards like ISO/IEC 42001 shaping the next generation of solutions.

But the principle will stay the same: empower educators, respect privacy, and give responders the intelligence they need without delay.

That is why we built ClassSecure. Because teachers deserve to feel safe in their classrooms. Because parents deserve to know their children’s privacy is not being traded for security. And when seconds count, getting the right information in the right hands can change everything.
