One school using a parent app for bus tracking and electronic student bus passes for kids to “swipe” into and off of the bus, reported an 80 percent reduction in parent inquiries to the school about their child's bus ride. Other schools using the technology report a 50-75 percent decrease in student incidents on buses. Other use-case examples include a 75-100 percent decline in students getting off at the wrong bus stop.
Liberty Public School District 53 in Liberty, Mo., used footage from school bus surveillance cameras to apprehend a hit-and-run driver who rear-ended a school bus. Through live stream, footage captured the car and license plate. Within 17 minutes, the police had the found the car. The district was able to view students across five cameras to see that none were hurt.
The district has also used footage for investigations surrounding student wellness. When a child arrived home with a bruise, the parents suspected abuse at school. Bus cameras captured a bullying incident that happened between their child and another. This conclusion supported trust between the parent and school and built confidence in the safety and security systems.
