LenelS2 Launches “On the Safe Side” School Safety Program

Physical security solutions provider LenelS2 recently announced the launch of a new program that will assist families, schools, and communities in having productive conversations about school security. The company partnered with actor Chad Michael Murray and National PTA to create “On the Safe Side,” a series of resources intended to spur conversations about physical security and safety in schools.

“As I watch my children grow, my instinct to protect them grows too,” said Murray. “Their safety is the most important thing to me. Like most parents, we make an effort to talk about safety with our kids, but so often, it’s hard to know where to begin. I’m joining LenelS2 and the ‘On the Safe Side’ program to help provide parents with the tools they need to feel more comfortable approaching the topic. These resources are essential to help start the conversation and spark change.”

Facets include information about government funding processes, physical security features, and a conversation guide to facilitate discussions among parents, students, and school officials. LenelS2 and Murray have also launched a video as an introduction to the program that lays the basics of school safety and security education.

“National PTA and LenelS2 hold a shared urgency to make our schools safer. Schools should be a safe place, and parents should not have to fear sending their children to school,” said National PTA President Yvonne Johnson. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with LenelS2 in empowering families and administrators with ‘On the Safe Side’ resources. Collaboration between families and schools is critical to addressing the school safety issues our country continues to face.”

LenelS2 also hosted a school safety discussion moderated by Murray. The panel of experts included clinical psychologist and children’s author Dr. Regine Muradian, as well as LenelS2 Global President & General Manager Kumar Sokka.

“LenelS2 recognizes a parent's priority is to keep their child safe,” said Sokka. “Unfortunately, many parents don’t know where to begin when it comes to starting a candid conversation about school safety. We’ve developed ‘On the Safe Side’ to help provide parents and schools with the tools they need to have these hard conversations, and ultimately, propel a safer school experience for all children. We’re committed to helping provide a safe environment for everyone.”

  • Access Control Trends Continue to Strengthen School Safety Security

Class period bells have been ringing across campuses for a few months now, but that doesn’t mean the subject of safety was fully settled before the start of the new school year. As one wise person once said, “It’s a journey, not a destination”. That’s why it remains a leading issue among administrators, faculty, students, and communities. Schools are striving to be at the top of their class when it comes to the ability to control access instantly and securely, monitor suspicious behavior accurately and consistently, and respond to threats immediately and effectively. Ultimately, they aim to provide a reassuring, comfortable, and conducive environment for a rich learning experience. These goals apply whether at a community college in Southern California, a major university in Pennsylvania, or a rural K-12 district in Michigan. Read Now
