At $2,500 per door, the 150-pound, bullet-resistant doors can prevent any threat from the outside from entering the classroom.

New York City area schools are taking an extra step to ensure its students are being protected if a mass shooting should occur.

A school in New York City and a school in New Jersey have installed 150-pound, bullet-resistant doors this month, WCPO reports.

Remo Security Doors manufacture the product at $2,500 per door.

Remo Security Doors Omer Barnes said his children’s school district in Harrington Park, New Jersey have invested thousands to put the doors in classrooms.

“God forbid, a shooting event," he told WCPO, "someone tries to break the glass to unlock the door, it's impossible. You cannot do it."

Neighboring districts have begun to place orders for the doors, which with a turn of the lock engages 12 steel bars preventing any threat from the outside.
