According to Jennifer Burks, associate superintendent of technology and innovation, 12 of the district’s 14 middle and high schools have had state-of-the-art video systems installed, and the district is working on installing the equipment at the final two middle schools.

The Poway Unified School District (PUSD) continues to improve security for its schools and offices with the installation of new video surveillance equipment.

According to Jennifer Burks, associate superintendent of technology and innovation, 12 of the district’s 14 middle and high schools have had state-of-the-art video systems installed, and the district is working on installing the equipment at the final two middle schools.

Burks said new video systems have also been installed at the Design 39 campus and the district office. Administrators and staff from all sites with new systems have attended training to become familiar with the systems and software, and the district’s audio/visual team will provide on-site support as necessary.

The Technology and Innovation Department worked with the Personnel Support Services Department and the director of risk management on a set of policies and procedures for the new video recording equipment, Burks told the San Diego Union-Tribune. Administrators have provided feedback on the new internal policies and procedures and the final version will be distributed to schools this month.
