Oklahoma District to Use Grant Funds to Add Surveillance System

Central High Public Schools is receiving a one-time allocation of Title IV money from the State Department of Oklahoma entitled “Safe Schools” and plans to use the funds to install new video surveillance equipment in the district.
The school district is using the $15,000 in funds to install almost 20 cameras throughout the district. The cameras will be placed both inside and outside of campus buildings.
School administrators will be able to access the fully digital surveillance system at any point in time throughout the entire year. The new video surveillance will reinforce the security and safety policies already in place on campuses.
The district’s new security upgrades aim to reduce threats from outside, decrease bullying on campus and protect students walking from building to building during and outside of school hours.
“The use of these funds to purchase these cameras for our district is a much-welcomed relief,” Superintendent for Central High Public Schools Bennie Newton told the Marlow Review. “With our campus being so wide open, we are always looking for ways to enhance security for our students and staff.”
