Former Uvalde School Police Chief Indicted Over Elementary Shooting Response

The former Uvalde school police chief and another former school officer were both indicted Thursday over their role in the 2022 Robb Elementary shooting. That’s according to the Associated Press.

Pete Arredondo, the former chief, was incited by a grand jury on 10 counts of felony child endangerment/abandonment. He was briefly booked into the jail before being released on bond. Gonzales was also incited on similar charges.

Arredondo was the on-site commander during the shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead.

Numerous investigations faulted law enforcement with their response to the massacre. Instead of actively looking to stop the shooter, police waited more than 70 minutes before confronting the killer.
