“Incidents such as the one that occurred today strikes the worst fear in the hearts of students and parents,” Police Chief Danielle Outlaw said in a statement Friday. “The officers and school staff worked together to respond quickly and ensure the safety of all involved. I commend the school staff member who displayed quick actions and bravery when he confronted the subject.”
The school’s prom took place as scheduled on Saturday. The school confirmed that classes would resume as usual Monday, with counseling support available and an enhanced security presence o provide a sense of comfort to our students and staff,” according to the superintendent.
"I want to thank everyone for their incredible patience as district staff worked diligently through the reunification process," the statement read. "Our staff and community were incredibly supportive and generous in their efforts. An additional thank you to our regional school districts and Trimet who provided staff and buses to help reunify our students with their families."
Parkrose School District officials are working with the FBI and the Portland Police Bureau on the investigation.
