Kansas High School Increases Security After Receiving Two Threats Recently

This is the second threat in two weeks that the district has received.

St. Marys High School in Kansas announced Thursday they will have more law enforcement present on campus Monday morning after a threat was found in a bathroom stall.

The threat, which read, “school shooting on Monday,” prompted the high school, its district and St. Marys Police Department to begin investigating on Thursday.

While investigating, officials said they are allowing school operations to continue as they feel like the campus is secure.

“Kaw Valley school officials and the St. Marys Police Department are dedicated to making sure we provide a safe environment for all students. The school staff is meeting with students to determine the origin of the message. School staff has also met with the student body to explain the seriousness of making these kinds of threats,” district officials said in a Facebook post.

The threat is particularly scary for the school, as the week before the district was made aware of another threat at the high school.

Officials did determine that students were safe and were never at an increased risk of harm, according to a Facebook post.
