Georgia District Launches Anonymous Tip Line

The district said students, employees and parents can use the SafeSchools Alert tip line to report safety concerns via phone, text or email, and have the option of doing so anonymously.

The Cobb County School District launched a “SafeSchools Alert” tip line Tuesday where people can text, email or call in tips about threats, bullying and harassment.

The district said students, employees and parents can use the SafeSchools Alert tip line to report safety concerns via phone, text or email, and have the option of doing so anonymously. CCSD said it will log each tip and alert the appropriate administrator to investigate the tip and take action as needed.

“We are seeking information that can allow the school to better address the school climate issues that cause students anxiety or fear and are not being addressed because people are afraid to share the information,” school police officer Phil Bradford told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We are trying to become more aware of what is going on. We are asking for information from all quarters of the school so we can become preventive, and we can be more proactive.”

Bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism, violent threats and other concerns about school safety can be reported through the app, the district said.

The app is available for free on smartphones. There is also a phone number to call or text, an email address and a website through which people can submit reports.
