Back to School Security Upgrades

With classes about to be back in session, several schools are giving their campus security an overhaul

The summer is slowing coming to an end and students will be back in school soon, some even as early as next week. With the steady stream of kids on campus, school administrators are working hard to keep everyone safe.

One school in New Jersey has been working hard on constructing new security vestibules which will be completed just in time for the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. The new vestibules will be located at entrances at their elementary and middle schools, and will require all visitors to enter through a set of double doors and greeted by a staff member before they can enter the rest of the building. A new visitor management system will also be used at the schools this year.

"Safety is our first priority with students," said Frankford Township School Superintendent. "In this day and age, you can never be too cautious."

And K-12 schools aren’t the only campuses making security upgrades for the coming school year. Arkansas State University is installing several new security cameras around the new graduate and undergraduate apartment buildings.

The safety of students, faculty and visitors is of the utmost concern at every campus. Seeing new security installations and ongoing upgrades can help students and parents feel a little more at ease when walking through those doors each morning.
