IDIS Releases Guide to K–12 Security Video Technology

Global security company IDIS announced that it has released a guide discussing the role of video security in K–12 school security systems. The eBook, titled “Optimal Use of Video Systems for K–12 School Security,” is intended to help reduce risks in the education vertical and create safe learning environments. Its intended audience is K–12 school administrators, senior teams, education sector security planners and systems integrators, according to a press release.
The guide explores topics like cost and affordability; strategies for building multi-layered solutions for classrooms, athletic fields, the perimeter and more; and how to detect risks and intervene more quickly in order to protect students and staff.
The eBook is available for a free, no-strings-attached download on the IDIS website. A news release calls it a “practical starting point and reference source” toward designing, deploying and operating video systems effectively. It covers planning considerations and requirements for effective implementation, including perspective challenges; layered security approaches; district-wide resilience; camera placement and uses from parking lots to playgrounds to interior spaces; cybersecurity; federal funding and compliance; and how to ensure continued value for district stakeholders.
