FBI Investigates Threat Against Iowa School District

The Benton Community School District in Iowa has cancelled all classes and activities through Sunday while the FBI investigates a threat against the district.

All classes and activities for the Benton Community School District in Iowa have been cancelled through Sunday while the FBI and local enforcement investigate a potential threat.

KCRG reported officials were notified by the FBI that an unidentified male a threat of violence, stating that something would happen at one of the district schools on Friday.

It is unknown as to how the male issued the threat against the district.

Activities cancelled include drivers ed classes, basketball and wrestling practice, The Crafters Connection Craft Show and more.

"The District’s highest priority is always the safety of its students and staff members," the district said.

The threat comes on the cusp of a mass school shooting in California that left two dead and several injured Thursday.

“I'm hoping nothing does happen because out in California they had a school shooting today so it's very worrying,” said Norma Eiha of Vinning to the news outlet.

“I got the bulletin this afternoon and it was just kind of.... wow, shattering,” said Gary Lillis of Keystone.
