State Center Community College District Selects Security Management System

The State Center Community College District (SCCCD), based in Fresno, Calif., has selected AMAG Technology’s Symmetry Security Management System to provide its security needs across all of its campuses, according to a press release. SCCCD will install the organization’s Symmetry Access Control, Symmetry Intrusion, and Symmetry Bluetooth readers, and DCL Technology will serve as the integrator to deploy the system.

“We chose the Symmetry platform because of its dynamic ability to meet our growing needs,” said Vincent Fries, SCCCD Security System Specialist. “Symmetry’s built-in intrusion system provided an added convenience for us, as we did not have to look for a third-party intrusion system. AMAG’s Symmetry Blue readers will also help SCCCD to transition to smart cards while allowing us to still use our current access cards.”

SCCCD consists of four community colleges and two educational centers: Clovis Community College, Fresno City College, Madera Community College, Madera Community College at Oakhurst, Reedley College, and the Career and Technology Center. The first phase of the project involves installing Symmetry in buildings on two of the campuses and expanding to all of them later on. The district-wide upgrade process is expected to take about three years.

“We are thrilled to be working with SCCCD and AMAG Technology and look forward to a long partnership as SCCCD expands and upgrades to an Enterprise-level system over the next several years,” said DCL Technology President Keven Smith.

  • Access Control Trends Continue to Strengthen School Safety Security

Class period bells have been ringing across campuses for a few months now, but that doesn’t mean the subject of safety was fully settled before the start of the new school year. As one wise person once said, “It’s a journey, not a destination”. That’s why it remains a leading issue among administrators, faculty, students, and communities. Schools are striving to be at the top of their class when it comes to the ability to control access instantly and securely, monitor suspicious behavior accurately and consistently, and respond to threats immediately and effectively. Ultimately, they aim to provide a reassuring, comfortable, and conducive environment for a rich learning experience. These goals apply whether at a community college in Southern California, a major university in Pennsylvania, or a rural K-12 district in Michigan. Read Now
