The Lubbock, Texas metro area has about a half million residents, and school campuses are popping up all across the cityscape. With the growth comes concerns and appropriate plans for campus safety and student security.
Within the boundaries are three large school districts: Lubbock ISD, Lubbock Cooper ISD, and Lubbock Frenship ISD, and three chiefs of police who are tasked with maintaining an orderly and secure environment.
Police chief Eric Tijerina at Lubbock ISD will talk about a growing district and campus security measures in place, how a growing student body is cared for and his involvement with other chiefs of police both in the educational setting and city and county law enforcement.

About the Speaker:
Eric Tijerina, Police Chief, Lubbock ISD
Named chief by the LISD Board in February 2025, he has 33 years in law enforcement, including 25 years with the Lubbock Police Department, serving in narcotics, gang units, and on the SWAT team.
As chief his goal include to enhance school safety, build stronger relationships with students and the community, and improve communication. He switched to the school district to spend more time with family while protecting students as if they were his own.
