Ohio State University is beefing up security following a car-and-knife attack that exposed flaws in emergency procedures.
There is no longer a threat at the school.
School administrators will have to take specific actions to better protect their students, staff, visitors and their campuses.

Kansas will become the first campus-carry state where students do not need permits to carry guns while on campus
So far, there are 10 states that allow their students to open carry on college and university campuses. But that doesn’t necessarily mean there are no limitations to who can carry and when or where.
After a 17-year-year old student opened fire at his school last week, only minor injuries were reported – due in large part to a teacher tackling the shooter.
Securing these outdoor spaces takes a different mindset. Indoors, a lot of effort is spent protecting assets. Outdoors, it’s mostly about protecting people. It’s about the student walking late at night between the library and dorm or the last student heading to their car in a remote parking lot.

Every month, almost every day, I hope that there has not been another school shooting where youngsters are hurt, or killed, on an educational campus. Too often that hope goes unfulfilled.

Regardless of whether a lockdown situation occurs because of an intruder, a threat against the school or severe weather, it is important to plan for what happens after the lockdown is initiated.
