Motorola Solutions Announces Acquisition of IPVideo

Motorola Solutions recently announced that it has acquired New-York-based IPVideo, the creator of the HALO Smart Sensor, according to a news release. Though the details of the transaction were not disclosed, the release notes that the acquisition marks Motorola’s commitment to improving safety and security in spaces like schools, hospitals, hotels, and businesses.

“We are excited to join Motorola Solutions and look forward to strengthening the innovative solutions we deliver to our customers,” said IPVideo President David Antar. “Together, we will continue investing in and building upon Motorola Solutions’ leading safety and security ecosystem, equipping customers with advanced ways to protect their people and enhance their operational insights.”

The HALO Smart Sensor features built-in vape detection, air-quality monitoring, gunshot detection, emergency keyword detection, and abnormal noise and motion detection features, among others. The device was designed for environments like restrooms, hospital rooms, and hotel rooms, where video security solutions aren’t feasible.

“With its powerful sensor capabilities, HALO extends our end-to-end physical security offering by integrating a non-video threat detection product into our safety and security ecosystem,” said Mahesh Saptharishi, Motorola Solutions’ executive vice president and chief technology officer. “We see this as an opportunity to introduce additional detection solutions that help our customers protect people, property and places.”
