Middle School Students in Florida Arrested for Planning Mass Shooting

Two more students have been arrested in Florida for planning a mass shooting. They are the latest in a string of teenagers in the state who been arrested for threats.

After authorities were notified that two Florida students were planning a mass shooting, and had marked some students as “safe” and others for a “stab” list, they were arrested last week.

The investigation into the shooting began when one student told other students they would be considered “safe,” according to a press release from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation led to officials finding out two middle school students at Horizon Middle School had created lists and talked about carrying out a shooting or stabbing as well as sneaking a gun inside the school.

WFTV reported that the students told deputies that although they discussed it they had no intention of carrying it out.

Detectives said there was a third student who was around when the two students were discussing the plans.

Newsweek reported Florida takes threats seriously and the two students were charged and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center in Orlando.

This is not the first time this school year that a student has made a threat in Florida.

Newsweek reported in August there were two different individuals who were arrested in the state after making threats at two different  schools.

ABC News reported a 12-year-old Tampa girl was arrested in August as well after she made a threat to shoot up her school on Snapchat.
