Pennsylvania Hospital Adds Three Security Guards

Heritage Valley’s agreement with Sewickley aims to increase security for hospital patients, employees and visitors

Heritage Valley Health System in Pennsylvania has added armed security guards to its hospitals in Beaver County and Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

Mayor Brian Jeffe of Sewickley swore in three full-time police officers at a Sewickley council meeting last week as a result of a long-term contract between the borough and Heritage Valley Health System to add armed security to its Sewickley hospital.

“All three of these officers have worked for various degrees as a part-time officer with the borough, some as long as seven or eight years,” Jeffe said.

Heritage Valley’s agreement with Sewickley aims to increase security for hospital patients, employees and visitors, Jeffe said. Police staffing at the hospital began Oct. 1, with Sewickley police providing dedicated, on-site officers 24/7 to supplement the security service currently provided by Allied Universal Security Staffing.

Brighton Township will provide an armed guard 24 hours a day at Heritage Valley Beaver.

“The hospital is such an asset to the Sewickley community, we are pleased to have the opportunity to have a significant role in protecting the patients, visitors and community that utilize the hospital,” Sewickley police Chief Richard Manko said. “Our goal is to provide a safe and secure community hospital.”
