Buffalo State Increasing Patrols Following String of Robberies
Campus police are increasing patrols following a string of robberies.

A string of robberies at Buffalo State University has prompted campus police to increase patrols around the grounds for the next few days, according to Buffalo State Police.
The announcement of increased patrols come on the heels of a fatal shooting near campus and two robberies on-campus, one of which involved a gun. University Police Chief Peter Carey said the robberies are not random.
"Both of those robberies, one with a firearm, one without a firearm, were drug-related," Carey said. "And so our students were engaging in illegal activity and but for that action these robberies would have taken place at Buffalo State."
Buffalo Police will be meeting with students and resident life advisors in the near future on how to improve campus security concerns.
The below message was sent out to Buffalo State students following the latests robbery off-campus:
In compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the University Police Department at Buffalo State is notifying the campus community of an investigation by City of Buffalo Police into an armed robbery that occurred off campus near the Asarese-Matters Community Center late Tuesday evening, October 23.
At approximately 10:05 p.m. Tuesday night, a commuter student reported to Buffalo Police that he was the victim of an armed robbery off campus at the intersection of Rees and Bradley streets near the Asarese-Matters Community Center. One of the three suspects displayed a handgun before the student was robbed of his cell phone and backpack. The student victim was not injured and the suspects fled away from campus.
