2 Dead After Shooting at Grambling State University

A student and visitor were found dead in the courtyard between two dorms early Wednesday morning.

Police in Grambling, Louisiana are searching for a suspect that shot and killed two people on Grambling State University's campus early Wednesday morning.

Both of the victims were 23-year-olds, Earl Andrews was a student of the university and Monquiarius Caldwell was just visiting, university spokesman Will Sutton said.

The two were found in a courtyard between two dorm buildings, a spokesman for the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office, Stephen Williams said. Based on preliminary information found at the scene, the shooting followed an altercation that started inside one of the dormitories.

Sutton said authorities were alerted to the shooting by a female student who called the Grambling State University police chief on his cell phone.

"There's no place for violence on the Grambling State University campus," Sutton said. "We always encourage our students to be safe, to be aware, to watch who they hang out with, and to watch who's around at all times. And this is a most unfortunate situation."
